South Africa Whale Watching Season - The second tour of the season saw us treated to two different species of whale and a Bottlenose Dolphin!
Today was a gorgeous day to be out on the water, so we set off bright and early to beat the wind predicted for this afternoon.
We began our trip with the sighting of a very relaxed
Brydes Whale who was cruising slowly along in the bay. Brydes whales eat schooling fish, and with the presence of both
Cape Gannets and Cape Fur Seals in the near vicinity, its safe to say we had a school or two moving through our bay this morning.
After some lovely time with this Brydes Whale, we set our sights on some Southern Right Whales milling about in the bay. We were lucky enough to encounter a few different groups, all of which showed off their flippers and flukes as they rolled about to the delight of all aboard! Some of the whales even chose to approach the boat and give us a spectacular show closer towards the beach.
Whilst watching one of the groups, we also encountered a lone Bottlenose Dolphin! Although these animals are typically social animals, living in pods, every now and then we also encounter a lone ranger traversing through the area.
All in all, we had a fantastic time out at sea!
